ALHIBE EARTH KITCHEN
Built with no nails — only bolts and traditional knotting, the Earth Kitchen is a quiet tribute to handcraft, and the land itself. Bamboo harvested from the surroundings.
the main structure was raised in just five days, reflecting a collaborative and grounded way of building
Shaped and assembled by our in-house team in Alhibe together with local hands. From harvesting and splitting the bamboo to assembling the structural bundles that form the framework. The natural terrain of the site was preserved and became the kitchen counter itself, allowing the structure to grow directly from the earth.
One of Alhibe Farm’s most meaningful hands-on builds—created as both a functional farm kitchen and an immersive learning experience in bamboo architecture and natural building. The structure was developed during an immersion with the M+S Studio team, working together with the Alhibe in-house farm team.
It became a living workshop where designers, builders, and farm stewards stepped out of conventional practice and learned directly from the material—handling bamboo, understanding its behavior, testing joinery, tying, bolting, knotting, and shaping a structure with their own hands.
Made with locally harvested bamboo, the Earth Kitchen reflects Alhibe’s belief that design should not only be drawn, but also experienced through making. The main bamboo frame was raised in only a few days through collective effort, showing how quickly a structure can take form when there is rhythm, teamwork, and respect for the material.
At the heart of the kitchen is the earth oven, made from clay, sand, soil, and bamboo framing. It was created for slow cooking, pizza making, shared meals, and gathering around fire—bringing people back to the most elemental parts of community: food, warmth, work, and conversation.
More than a kitchen, the Bamboo Earth Kitchen became a bridge between architecture and farming, studio practice and field experience, design thinking and hand-built knowledge. It reminds us that bamboo is not just a sustainable material—it is a teacher of flexibility, humility, craft, and collaboration.
Through this structure, Alhibe Farm continues to share its philosophy of creating with nature, using local materials, and allowing every built space to become part of a larger ecological and human story.
Since its creation, the Earth Kitchen has become one of Alhibe’s most meaningful gathering spaces—a place where people come together over food, conversations, farm meals, pizza nights, and even intimate wedding dinners and setups under the quiet embrace of bamboo and trees.
More than a kitchen, it became a living classroom and a communal hearth—where architecture, farming, teamwork, food, and material wisdom came together in one grounded experience.
